Why Use LEDs?

Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) have been around for several decades, but recent advancements in technology have brought them to the forefront of lighting technology. Many reasons exists for choosing LED's over the alternatives.

Economics:

• In a period of concern over rising energy prices, LED's are the best option because of their incredibly low power requirements. The chart of the right shows that LED lights use only 2% of the energy that incandescents would use over the same period. Considering that that amounts to almost $90 for one month, that could easily equate to a savings of up to $270 or more for one holiday season.
• Additionally, our lights can be expected to last a great deal longer than any incandescent strings available. Blazen Illuminations LEDs are rated to last 100,000 hours, or about 11 years of constant use, at which time they will have a barely noticeable decrease in brightness. This is between 50 and 100 times the average incandescent bulb, which can be expected to burn out after 1000 to 2,000 hours.

Ecology:

• Because of their incredibly low power requirements, LED's are by far the most ecologically-friendly choice. Consuming only 2% of the energy required for incandescent lighting, LED lights have the smallest impact on the environment of any holiday lighting available.

Experience

• The typical incandescent holiday bulb creates its color by using a white element covered by a colored bulb. This has the effect of diminishing the light output of the bulb, as well as creating a less than ideal color result. In contrast, the color of nearly every LED light that Blazen Illuminations sells is produced by the light itself. Each lamp is manufactured to produce a single wavelenght of light, creating a very specific color. These lights are truer in color, and have a deeper, richer effect than incandescent lights can achieve.
• Additionally, our LED lights have custom shaped lenses that enhance the appearance of the light. Most lenses are faceted, which breaks up the lights very slightly and creates a shimmering effect.
