Living Lights 2010

July 2010 - Blazen Illuminations was invited to propose a holiday lighting event at the Butterfly Pavilion located in Westminister, CO. The event directive was to create a walk through holiday display, using holiday lighting and lit sculptures, that would attract guests from all over Colorado and surrounding states.

Based on other attractions in the area Blazen Illuminations did not want to copy what was being done already. The goal was to come up with a completely new concept of lit sculptures and produce a totally 3D walk through experience.

With a theme of butterflies and insects Blazen designed an entire attraction with image projections on the building, holiday lighting in the trees and three sculpture displays that brought the outdoors to life. The display was designed to be located in the “Discovery Garden”, all around the building, including inside the building.

The large sculptures are built to a scale that shrinks guests to the size of a bug, and are lit with LED lighting to create a larger than life, vibrant and exciting visual experience. The centerpiece of the display is a Blue Morpho Butterfly perched on a leaf. It is constructed of steel and plastic and lit with LED lights. It is over eight feet wide and 5 feet tall.

The attraction is lit for a limited time each year in December and is one of the fastest growing holiday attractions in the state. Based on the overwhelming success of the attraction Blazen is continuing to grow the display by adding more sculptures and more lighting each year.

This season we are proud to announce that we are adding five new sculptures, tons of additional lighting outside, new lighting in the indoor conservatory, and additional logo and image projections on the outside of the building.
